Lightbulb Fancy steel text in Photoshop (tutorial)

This is an easy tutorial to make a gorgeous looking steel text. You will find it fun to make. It is very much editable. I made it in Photoshop v7 but others will hopefully work.

STEP 1

Click file - new.
Choose...
Width: 8 inches
Height: 6 inches
Contents: white
Click OK

STEP 2

Select the (Horizontal) Type Tool.

Choose a favorite color as foreground color. Its better that you choose a strong color (e.g. pure red or green). Not black please.
I chose color '#00BFF3'.

Click on the canvas.

Write your text.

Choose a bold looking font. I chose 'Arial Black'

Choose font size 48px.

Apply the text by clicking the Tick mark (or press ok in older versions)

STEP 3

Click Layer - layer style - blending options. Or you may Double click the text layer in the layers pallete.
A Layer style window will open.

Click Stroke

In Fill type combobox choose: Gradient

STEP 4

Click Gradient Overlay

In the Blend mode combobox choose 'Multiply'

Check 'Reverse'

STEP 5

Click Outer glow

Set blend mode to Normal or Multiply

Click on the color box. Choose black color. Press OK.

Make the Size 8 px.

Click OK.

And there you have it! A nice fancy text.

You can do an extra step to give it an embossy look:

STEP 6

Double click the layer (or click Layer - Layer style - Blending options)

Click Inner Shadow

Make...
Distance: 1 px
Size: 4 px
Click OK.

You can change the text and text color whenever you want (in PSD format).
This not the limit. You can play with this tut to make your own unique creations. If you create something cool please let us see. If you have any questions, leave a comment here.
